Yamaha FZ S v3.0 Fi is a 149cc bike which comes under the segment of 150cc bikes. Well Yamaha launched the BS-VI variant of this bike in the month of November 2019. The Yamaha FZ S v3.0  BS-IV has 3 colors- Matt Black, Dark Matt Blue, and Gray & Cyan Blue, but now with the BS-VI variant, 2 more colors- Metallic Red and Dark Knight are also added.

Yamaha FZ S V3 Fi BS-VI is a commuter bike available in 2 variants in India. Its lowest version starts from a price of  Rs 1,01,616 (ex-showroom) and the top version from a price of  Rs 1,02,902 (ex-showroom). This bike weighs about 137 kilograms with a seat height of 790 mm. The ground clearance of this bike is 165 mm.

1.Engine

Yamaha FZ S v3.0 Fi comes with a Blue core concept-driven 149cc engine with a compression ratio of 9.6:1 and generates 12.4 PS@ 7250 rpm of power and 13.6 Nm @ 5500 rpm of torque from its 2-valve, air-cooled 4-stroke 149cc SOHC engine. The single-cylinder of Yamaha FZ S V3 Fi has a 5 manual gearbox. The engine refinement of this bike got better than the BS-IV variant. There is also no vibration in higher acceleration in this bike which makes the ride quality better. The ignition timing and injection maps for the fuel injection system were completely redone so that riders get a good feeling of acceleration while still enjoying the laidback, upright riding position. 2.Tyres

The top variant of Yamaha FZ S v3.0 Fi also has 220mm rear and 282mm front disk brakes with an anti-locking braking system in the front disc. Front Disc with Bosch Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) helps in achieving improved braking performance by providing better stability and control at all speeds without any wheel lockups and skidding even in slippery conditions.

6.Monocross Suspension

The rear suspension is a lightweight Monocross suspension unit that contributes to mass centralization and provides 120mm of wheel travel, which is tuned for a good balance between the spring rate and damping force. It enables greater freedom of positioning of the shock absorber unit and makes it possible to get greater wheel travel than the actual stroke of the shock absorber unit. It also improves the handling of a motorcycle.

The spring is a two-stage type with a different coil pitch in the upper and lower halves. The tighter coiled section contributes to a smoother ride, while the section with fewer coils supports load at the time of the larger stroke to prevent bottoming.

7.Exhaust Muffler

Yamaha has also provided an Advanced Midship Muffler Cover for Yamaha FZ S v3.0. The term mid-ship means of course in the middle of the ship, and in this case, means that the muffler is located closer to the machine’s center of gravity. this muffler has a distinctive look that serves to accentuate the presence of rear tyre and contributes to the machine’s unique exterior styling. But, at the same time is designed to improve exhaust performance and to be a major factor contributing to these models' light and natural handling feel. The muffler is newly designed and further adds the impression of the sharpness of the bike.

8.Under Cowl

The Yamaha FZ kick starts the premium commuter segment in the year 2008 and now it is in its 3rd generation. So here we will be telling you what's good and bad about this motorcycle by telling you the pros and cons of this premium commuter 150cc bike.

So let's talk about the Pros.

The Yamaha FZ S v3.0 is a very comfortable motorcycle not only because of its riding position upright but also because the footpegs are center set and of course the suspension is on the softer side giving it a very comfortable ride quality as well. 

Yamaha was the first company to offer Fuel injection in this segment in the version Yamaha FZ v2.0. The Yamaha FZ S v3.0 also retains the same engine and it is extremely smooth, very refined, and harshness is completely missing as well.  

Moreover, the FZ S v3.0 Fi is a very fuel-efficient motorcycle, it gives a mileage of almost 40 to 50 kilometers per litre depending on how you ride.

The Yamaha handle also feels pretty well in fact it feels light for good manipulation of the bike on the road and definitely offers a good amount of feel and feedback as well. 

The tyres of the Yamaha FZ S Fi v3.0 also offer a lot of grips which makes you comfortable in cornering and riding without any shakiness.

However as popular, this motorcycle might be there are also certain things not to like. Not only Yamaha has retained the same old engine but also actually reduced the displacement and the power that offers on this motorcycle and still has not increased it after all these years. So yes in terms of performance Yamaha has still lot of 
things to improve on this bike. 

The price of Yamaha FZ S v3.0 Fi is slightly more than its rivals which makes it slightly more expensive and the advantage of fuel efficiency is nullified by the maintenance cost of this machine.
